We generally set alpha =0.1 in our simulations thus allowing a maximum
fractional variation of 10% of all the variables we are more interested in
(i.e, temperature, density and pressure).
However, the geometric ratio q is always chosen in the interval 1 < q < 1.2, to
guarantee a fractional variation of the cell size below 20% (Thompson et al.
1985; Fletcher 1988).
