Erratum

The age of astronomy-related organizations

A. Heck

Observatoire Astronomique, 11 rue de l'Université, F-67000 Strasbourg, France
Astron. Astrophys. Suppl. Ser. 135 (1999) 467-475

An unfortunate intervention of digits remained undetected during all the publication steps of the paper (A&AS 135, 1999, 467-475) and introduced an erroneous (pre-Colombian!) date in Table 1 for the "range start" (4th column) of the "total sample Canada + U.S.A." (4th line).

The correct table should read as follows:

Table 1. Samples and properties

\begin{tabular}
{\vert c\vert c\vert c\vert c\vert c\vert c\vert c\vert c\vert}\...
 ...are Producers & 157 & 1946 & 154 (**) & 1984.4 & 8.5 & 16 \\ \hline\end{tabular}

(*) All ranges end in 1998, except the "publishers" one where no foundation year more recent than 1995 has been registered.

(**) A value lower than the size of the corresponding sample indicates that some duplications of entries for the same organizations (at different locations, but with the same foundation year) have counted only for one occurrence (see text).

What is OpenURL?

The OpenURL standard is a protocol for transmission of metadata describing the resource that you wish to access. An OpenURL link contains article metadata and directs it to the OpenURL server of your choice. The OpenURL server can provide access to the resource and also offer complementary services (specific search engine, export of references...). The OpenURL link can be generated by different means.
  • If your librarian has set up your subscription with an OpenURL resolver, OpenURL links appear automatically on the abstract pages.
  • You can define your own OpenURL resolver with your EDPS Account. In this case your choice will be given priority over that of your library.
  • You can use an add-on for your browser (Firefox or I.E.) to display OpenURL links on a page (see http://www.openly.com/openurlref/). You should disable this module if you wish to use the OpenURL server that you or your library have defined.
